1. Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World – Orlando, Florida
The Four Seasons Resort Orlando is one of my family’s favorite hotels in the world, and it has our favorite lazy river anywhere. In fact, the hotel/pool/kids club/lazy river setup is so great that we’ve been there three times and we still haven’t made it over to the nearby Disney theme parks!
The lazy river itself is rarely crowded, and the setting is gorgeous as you float around the hotel grounds. I usually try to avoid the waterfalls and spray features, but my kids love those elements.
Even when I’m at the hotel without my kids, I love sitting on a tube and relaxing as the current sends me around, loop after loop. I definitely prefer it to the adult pool that doesn’t go anywhere.

2. Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa – Oahu, Hawaii
Waikolohe Stream, Aulani’s lazy river, winds its way through palm trees and sweet-scented tropical plants like plumeria, pikake, and ginger. Playful fountains spray water along the lazy river, but you can avoid them if you choose. My favorite part is riding through a tunnel in a make-believe volcano, where bubbles rise from the river floor, surprising riders on their first float.
Once Hawaii was chosen as the location for the first Disney hotel not adjacent to a theme park, Disney CEO Bob Iger told his staff, “Let’s build the greatest pool in the Hawaiian Islands.” He very well may have succeeded.
Aulani Resort boasts not only an impressive lazy river, but also two splash play zones, two waterslides, four whirlpool spas, a massive zero-entry pool, and even a manmade snorkeling lagoon. Read all about Aulani’s pools and water features in my review.

3. Hacienda Tres Ríos – Playa del Carmen, Mexico
When is a hotel’s lazy river more than just another lazy river? When it’s an actual river. The Rio Selva connects the brilliant blue waters of Cenote Águila to the Caribbean Sea.
It’s part of the Tres Ríos Nature Park at Hacienda Tres Ríos, a surprisingly sustainable all-inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. And trust us when we say it’s amazing!
Imagine floating in cool, crystal-clear waters through a lush mangrove forest, with schools of fish swimming below you and birds in the trees around you. It’s a gorgeous, tranquil place. Plus, during our float, we didn’t see a single other soul. Bliss.

4. Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa – Naples, Florida
Located just north of Naples, Florida, we booked the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point for a family break filled with solid aquatic fun. This resort didn’t disappoint one bit.
The Hyatt recently opened an expanded lazy river and waterslide complex, featuring both a speed slide and a slower slide designed for two‑person rides. Our family circled the lazy river at least three dozen times. There’s even a seasonal boat service to a private beach, but the pools were so relaxing and fun that we couldn’t bring ourselves to leave them.

The long and languid lazy river at JW Marriott San Antonio Resort winds 1,100 feet through Texas Hill Country’s natural landscape. Limestone plus live oaks, cedar elms, and other native plants line the water, making the float a scenic escape. Look out for the sprayers overhead, though, where kids delight in trying to soak anyone drifting past.

FAQ: Hotels With Lazy Rivers
What is a hotel lazy river?
A hotel lazy river is a shallow, slow‑moving water loop designed for floating on an inner tube or pool float. Instead of swimming, you just drift along a winding path, often past waterfalls, sprayers, bridges, or tropical landscaping.
Which hotels have the best lazy rivers?
Some of the most impressive hotel lazy rivers are at Four Seasons Orlando, Aulani in Hawaii, JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country, Marriott Marquis Houston, Atlantis Bahamas, and Grand Wailea. These resorts have long, beautifully themed rivers with features like rapids, caves, waterfalls, and lush landscaping.
Are there any hotels with lazy rivers in Hawaii?
Yes — Hawaii has a few standout resorts with lazy rivers, including Aulani, Grand Wailea, Grand Hyatt Kauai, and Sheraton Maui. Lazy rivers are surprisingly rare in the islands, despite the abundance of great hotel pools. If you’re planning a trip, you may also enjoy my guide to the best hotel pools in Hawaii.
Which U.S. states have the most hotels with lazy rivers?
You’ll find the biggest concentration of hotels with lazy rivers in Florida, Texas, Nevada, and Hawaii. Orlando and San Antonio especially have several large resorts with long, winding rivers and big pool complexes.
What’s the difference between a lazy river and a river-style pool?
A true lazy river forms a continuous loop with a gentle current designed for floating. A river‑style pool may curve or meander, but doesn’t always have a loop, a current, or tubes.
Do all lazy rivers provide inner tubes?
Most resorts offer complimentary tubes, but some charge rental fees or require guests to bring their own. Policies vary, so it’s worth checking ahead, especially in Hawaii, where tube rentals are common.
Are hotel lazy rivers heated?
It depends on the location. Many resorts heat their lazy rivers during cooler months, while warm‑climate destinations often don’t need to. Seasonal resorts may only open their lazy rivers in summer.
Are lazy rivers safe for kids?
Yes — lazy rivers are generally kid‑friendly. Depths are usually shallow, and many resorts staff lifeguards along the route. Still, young children or non‑swimmers should wear life vests and stay within arm’s reach of a parent or adult caretaker. Some hotels also have height or age restrictions, so be sure to check before you float.
